With the beautiful voices presented in the show and its unique contests, Otr Elkalam (Scent of Speech) TV show has drawn the world’s attention to the aesthetics of the Holy Quran and its emotional effects on listeners all over the world.
Otr Elkalam is the first international competition to show the aesthetics of the Quran without a test in memorization. Its contests are devoted to showing the best voices in terms of performance, tajwid, maqams and vocal range, according to a member of the competition’s jury, Chairman of the Quran Review Committee in Pakistan, Dr. Ahmed Mian Thanvi.
Thanvi pointed out that Otr Elkalam is the first international competition that brings together all the elements of beauty in mosques, as it combines the call to prayer and Holy Quran recitation, which are related to prayer everywhere. He also noted that the competition provides viewers with the opportunity to listen to the call to prayer and the recitation of the Holy Quran in different ways that attract their attention to the aesthetic dimensions of the verses of the Quran, which are recited with the best and most sweet voices in the world.
The competition introduces voices that touch the viewers’ souls and enhance their spirituality. Moreover, the beautiful recitations help to achieve a balance in the souls of listeners and satisfy their emotional and spiritual longings.
The beautiful voices of the contestants highlight the aesthetics of the Quran, gratify the audience and show the subtleties of the sciences of the Quran and tajwid through the observations of the jury members when evaluating the performances of the contestants.
Otr Elkalam show is one of the initiatives of the General Entertainment Authority in Saudi Arabia. It is broadcast daily at 5 pm on the Saudia TV channel and the Shahid platform.
